Ellicottville is a community located in the Southern Tier of Western New
York in the foothills of the Allegany Mountains.
It is best known for its Ski Resorts – Holiday Valley and
Holimont – however, it is also a wonderful year-round destination
and a great place to live.
We’d like to
welcome you to the Town/Village Hall which is situated in the heart of the
Village of Ellicottville and conveniently houses both the Town and Village Clerk
offices.
People often ask what the
difference is between the Village and the Town.
In short, the Village encompasses one square mile inside the Town of
Ellicottville and has its own governing body which is independent of the Town
government.
It was created to
provide the more densely populated Village residents with services that were not
necessarily feasible for the less populated, rural community.
So, whereas all Village residents live in the Town, Town residents
outside of the designated square mile are not Village residents.
We hope
the information on the website will give you some insight into the Village and
Town governments and the services available to you.
Please don’t hesitate to stop by or call if you have questions or
concerns.
We look forward to your
feedback and suggestions.
